Myles Thornton reports as the Millwall Lionesses took on Dartford FC women at St Paul’s Sports Ground. Coming into this one, the lionesses were coming off the back of a 1-1 draw with Fulham Ladies.
Dartford on the other hand, they were visiting St Paul’s coming from a 6-0 win over New London Lionesses.
The lionesses starting 11 was, Charles, Burr, Welsh, Joyce, Williams, Kabadaki, Giordani, Nash, Moulton, Reid, Auguste.
Subs: Butler, Whitter, Bailey, Seely, Napper.
The game got underway, Dartford kicking off, and Millwall shooting towards the Pond End.
Plenty of the possession going to the lionesses and also a couple of chances for both sides in the first 5 minutes, neither side though registering a shot on target.
On the quarter of an hour mark though, Millwall’s Angel Reid struck the ball with power from distance and hit the crossbar.
Then only 2 minutes after Angel Reid hit the crossbar, she found herself running with the ball towards goal, she delivered it into the box and Otesha Charles was there to tap it in, 1-0 to the lionesses.
On the 26 minute mark, Dartford had a freekick but it went well wide of the Millwall goal.
Half Time came and Millwall were on top, a dominant performance in the first half and all they could do is hope for the same in the second half.
The second half got underway, and a fiesty start because Emma Whitter, who came on in the first half to replace Kaydence Kabadaki, was shown a second yellow card and dismissed from the game.
On the 52nd minute Chloe Burr had an effort from distance that went wide.
2 minutes later, Otesha Charles drive through with the ball and she struck with power but just not enough placement as it went wide of the post.
With half an hour to go, Millwall manager Jack Wheeler made his second sub of the game, Maisie Joyce came off for Ella Bailey.
On the 62 minute Millwall got a penalty and Maisie Joyce came back on to take it, Chloe Burr came off.
On the 71st minute Maisie Joyce’s free kick was just inches over the bar as she nearly made it 3.
With 12 minutes to go, Dartford had a penalty but Lauren Williams, the outfielder who went in goal due to avaliability, saved the pen and then saved the rebound!!
On the 88th minute Ellen Napper had a chance from a tight angle but her effort is just over.

The lionesses are next in action next Sunday, April 2nd, as they face Dartford once again away at Princes Park Stadium.
